~ My first oil portrait ~
去年十二月開始上油畫，數週前老師教我們畫人像，這是我的第一幅人像畫，以前從沒接觸過。
這幅算完成了，完成的定義是：暫時不想幫他補妝了。
幫他補了很多次妝，現在他的妝已經厚到初學的我無法改善，所以也是停筆的時候。

中秋圓月，生日快樂！

剛看了臺北市天文館有關100年的百分百中秋月圓的報導，才知道今年中秋節恰逢滿月；滿月在天文學上稱為「望」，也就是地球在月亮和太陽之間，三者在同一平面上的時刻，中秋節望的時刻發生在12日下午17時27分，17時43分月亮在東方地平就冉冉升起，今年的中秋明月是名符其實的團圓月，月圓百分百。書寫這篇文章的此刻正是台灣時間觀望圓月的好時機呢，希望大家今天都能看到圓月，心圓事也圓。

冬雪紛飛的北英格蘭
上週六開始我們這裡陸陸續續下起雪來, 雖然地上有些積雪,交通尚可通行。
但昨天下午開始飄雪不斷, 累積的雪量驚人, 惡劣的天候造成交通癱瘓, 許多學校今天都停課了。
早上想到住家附近湖區走走跟拍照, 一踏出家門才驚覺, 昨夜的積雪高度之深 ~ ~ 已達我的小腿。

The Deep 水底世界樂悠悠
During the school half-term friends came to stay with us and we went to The Deep and York.
Here are some photos and video clips of our trip to The Deep Aquarium.
I think everyone will love this aquarium without a doubt, I strongly recommend it, especially for kids and families.
These are the first sea creatures we see - look at the starfish, so desperate to be with the visitors.

最近的鉛筆素描
入秋後開始上素描課
班上七位固定班底
從去年十月開始上課
素描三期 水彩三期
這過程學生來來去去
不過我們幾個都撐下來 
現在回頭上【進階】素描
進階的意思 只是比以前更進一階罷啦
不是 advanced 喔
........
上週兩位同學（夫妻）帶了他們去德國酒莊度假時買的酒來班上
課堂氣氛超 high （平常就很熱絡喔）
喝酒助興 大家的畫藝更高昂
冰涼白酒 果香滋味
連我都喝了兩（小）杯呢
..........
素描1：
4H, HB, 2B
進階課程第一期
老師把重點放在掌握 物體的比例
學習比例的測量 跟 輔助線
但輔助線畫了三週吧
大家都逐漸失去興趣 （我們比較喜歡亂畫）
素描2：
炭筆＋ 4H, HB, B, 2B
這是兩週前課堂的練習
不過那時我因流感上身 身體不適
所以沒去上課
上週跟老師要了圖 自己回來練習
邊看電視 邊畫
三四個鐘頭後

We had a fantastic holiday away from work and mundane matters. It's done us good to recharge with a new perspective.
Fountains Abbey - 19 Aug
The first heritage site in our N. Yorkshire trip. The novelty of following a guided tour has made us realise the importance of it. We got to learn so many interesting facts and legends about the Abbey within a 1.5h tour.

近況
哇！ 要不是前兩天跟朋友聊到部落格
還忘了來這兒打掃蜘蛛網呢
於是才發現許久未見的高中同學的留言
很是驚喜呢
先簡短的報告一下近況 好了
從今年一月開始準備一項口譯的考試
過程充滿挑戰 （有種臨老入花叢的震撼感）
真正的挑戰 倒未必是這個考試
而是定居英國的職涯發展
現在姑且走一步算一步
我相信在我的努力之下
老天會為我開啟另一道窗的
另外一件比較喜悅的事
我們開始看房子
目前看了三棟 建築及居家擺設 迥然不同的房子
個個散發出屋主的獨特品味＆風格
我們倆喜歡的東西挺類似的
基本上要能表現出家的溫暖及舒適感
非常期待能擁有自己的房子
好親手妝點出屬於我們的窩
另外原先的素描課程已經結束
我們原班人馬＋老師 繼續上水彩課
上了兩堂課 雖然樂趣依舊
但我投入的時間顯然較之前素描課少
一來是我的水彩用具不齊全
二來是目前我的休閒時間全花在準備口譯考試上
在還沒找到生活與準備考試的適當平衡之前
這是我目前的做法
呼！講到考試就一整個沈重起來

End of 2009 update 歲末報告
What have I been up to? Can't believe that my last post was like months ago.....
Right, a quick update before 2010 arrives. I began taking a drawing class from October this year and I enjoy it enormously - it has certainly been an eye-opening experience for me. I made some new friends, mostly silver-tops, and went on to work at a charity Christmas card shop. Then in December I enrolled on a challenging exam preparatory course (DPSI - Diploma in Public Service Interpreting). It turns out to be a bit tortuous, but I've made my bed and I'll have to lie in it. 
Just to show you some of my drawings - a complete beginner's drawing pieces........

Week 2 - A Banana
graphite pencils, free drawing, negative drawing technique
We started this piece in class and completed it at home. I was totally amazed at the new technique - negative drawing (outlining an object from the negative space rather than the object itself). After we identified the tones (lights and darks), we adopted this technique to shape the banana and straight away I fell in love with drawing. I enjoy the freedom without many rules, the new perspective of vision, let alone the self-expression. It's definitely something I want to keep on doing.
Week 3 - A Teddy Bear
Graphite pencils, transfer technique + blending
Week 8- Perspective Drawing
Graphite pencils, charcoal, free drawing
